Edwin Franse

Edwin Franse is a visionary and results-driven Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) with extensive leadership experience in Defence and critical infrastructure sectors. With a background at the Netherlands Ministry of Defence and Van Oord, Edwin has a proven track record of translating strategy into execution through recurring three-year roadmaps and hands-on leadership in complex international environments.

He is known for aligning security initiatives with business and sustainability goals, driving ISO 27001 certification, strengthening global supply chain resilience, and ensuring compliance with GDPR and other standards. Edwin advises executive leadership and reports regularly to the Board, acting as a trusted voice on risk, compliance, and resilience.

Throughout his career, Edwin has built high-performing teams, led crisis management programmes, and designed comprehensive security frameworks tailored to both IT and OT environments. His expertise spans cloud security, operational technology, and data-driven innovation. He is recognised for fostering collaboration, delivering practical solutions, and embedding information security into global project delivery, contributing to greater business trust and operational resilience worldwide.

Edwin holds degrees from Eindhoven Technical University and Rotterdam Polytechnical School, and he is fluent in both Dutch and English.
