Biopanning on Live Cells
About
High-diversity screening using phage-display libraries is usually performed with recombinant proteins. However, for membrane-integrated proteins, like GPCR's and ion-channels, this is no option since these proteins do not adopt the correct conformation when recombinantly expressed. Biosynth offers a brandnew platform for biopanning on live cells, which uses the target proteins in their natural form, i.e. embedded in the cell-surface membrane of these cells. Our first successful screening-campaigns convincingly show that this platform provides solid binders to intact cell-surface proteins that cannot be obtained using the conventional modes of biopanning, i.e. using recombinant proteins.
