Personal Biography and Curriculum By Riccardo Girelli, C.E.O. and Owner of Labormet due
I was born in Turin on 3/28/1969, where I have always lived. I have completed technical studies in the field of electronics and I have always had a commercial inclination, carrying out my studies to receive qualification as commercial agents during my military service, which ended in 1991.
In 1992 I began my commercial technical activity in the company called Labormet, which dealt with the marketing and distribution of laboratory instruments and related consumables for metallography with brands such as Leica-Microsystems, OGP, Weiss environmental simulation and Galdabini dynamometers providing testing solutions for most of the industrial groups linked mainly to the automotive sector which in the city of Turin had several headquarters, with companies such as FCA group and Marelli with different divisions, as well as Avio, Leonardo, steel mills such as Cogne and many different companies such as Ferrero and Lavazza in the food sector or Cartier in jewellery.
I studied English privately to be the point of reference within my company for all the activities to be managed with foreign customers. In the past before the Marelli group was sold and the FCA merged with Stellantis all decisions for new plants outside Italy were taken in Turin and since my company had supplied all the reference laboratories it was natural that we continued this type of activity.
This has contributed to developing in me a solid aptitude for managing turnkey solutions in countries of different areas of the world, as we have provided complete laboratory and testing solutions in Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, USA, Morocco, Germany, Poland, Romania, Serbia, India ....
In 2012 the owner of the old company retired and I, together with a colleague of mine, opened Labormet due, maintaining the historical brands and adding the G.E. Brand to our commercial proposal. for Ct scan activity (X-ray) . Unlike the other instruments we sell to industrial groups of all sizes, we understood that the high cost and bureaucracy required to use these innovative and very useful technologies discouraged the purchase, but not the need to use the service.
It was the reason why I opened a second line of business maintaining the historic line of testing tools but equipping my metrology room with 3 tomographs over the years to meet the control needs of automotive and aerospace components, especially made in additive manufacturing because with X-ray technology it is also possible to check the internal geometries in a nondestructive way. The quality organization has been ISO:9001 and EN:9100 certified and this has allowed us to work with international groups such as Oerlikon A.M. , Baker & Hugues and Immensa.
For the Leonardo group we managed a strategic order for Eurofighter components with the Italian Defense as the industrial reference.
We are one of the companies that the Italian Institutefor Foreign Trade inserts in the list of technologically advanced companies for the events in which Italy participates in foreign events, in fact we have participated in fairs in Dubai, London, Paris, Baku ....
Actually I’m the only owner of the company, I am a member of the board of directors of the Italian Association of Additive Technologies, associated with AIPND (Italian Association for NonDistructive testing) and in the catalog of companies in the Aerospace sector of ASI (Italian Agency for Space), Counselor for SME at DAP (Piedmont Aerospace District) and part of Club Dirigenti Tecnici and also the President of an importan cluster of Aerospace company specialized in production of components of Aeronautic Engines , www.Aencom.it
