Measuring of system’s sustainability - Proof of product’s and system’s environmental claims
About
IPN LED&MAT has a dynamically Eco-innovation team specialized in supporting companies to measure, understand and manage the environmental impact of products, services, and operations. Through the most up-to-date tools, namely by applying globally recognized life cycle assessment methods (e.g. the United Nations supported IPCC method for Carbon Footprint calculation, the PEF method for product environmental footprint determination proposed by the European Commission, or the international standards ISO 14040, ISO 14044 and ISO 14067) and by modelling complex industrial systems using dedicated software, our work is focused on sustainability analysis and reporting (integrating LCA, S-LCA, CFP, PEF, ESG) towards design circular, net-zero and positive impact solutions. This way, the improvements in product systems (reduction of raw materials use, energy savings, minimization of pollution and waste) as well as alignment with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals can be evaluated and proved.
IPN LED&MAT has been leading the development of products and systems incorporating innovative recycling and reuse technologies to attain high sustainable patterns (e.g. ECOSORV e SHELLUTIONPLUS projects) as well as has been working in the improvement of products and technologies for sectors as the plastic and packaging (BiFibRe and MG BOTTLES projects, part of the Sustainable Plastics Agenda of Portugal's recovery and resilience plan) and has coordinated/participated in different FP7, H2020 and HEurope projects (e.g. APOLLO, Illiance, POWERSKIN+, GELCLAD, VIP4ALL, ICECLAY).
We are looking to join projects that require recognised environmental assessments. We have the expertise to assess the environmental impacts and benefits of products and systems or to measure the benefits of an improvement or of a new technology against a baseline. Our experience is in performing carbon footprint or the whole analysis of innovations life cycle to quantify real environmental impacts.
