Forschungsfabrik Mikroelektronik Deutschland / Fraunhofer
About
The Research Fab Microelectronics Germany (Forschungsfabrik Mikroelektronik Deutschland, FMD) is a collaboration of 13 Fraunhofer Institutes (11 member institutes and 2 guest institutes of the Fraunhofer Group for Microelectronics) together with the Leibniz Institutes FBH and IHP. FMD is the central point of contact for all questions related to microelectronics and nanoelectronics research and development in Germany and Europe.
As a one-stop shop, FMD combines the scientifically excellent technologies, expertise and system solutions of its partner institutes into customized solutions for industry and research partners.
Under the virtual umbrella of FMD, the largest collaboration of its kind in Europe has been established, bringing together more than 5,500 experts and a unique diversity of competencies and research infrastructures.
Within this ecosystem, FMD coordinates and supports key semiconductor initiatives such as the APECS Pilot Line for Advanced Packaging and Heterogeneous Integration and the German Chips Competence Centre (G3C), providing access to cutting-edge technologies, expertise and collaboration opportunities across the semiconductor value chain.
