About

Critical Issues :Material: 100% recycled

  • Fire resistance (V0 standard): Essential in case the battery catches fire due to high temperatures or other reasons, especially on a boat, in a hotel, or caravan.

  • IMD (In-Mold Decoration): Study on the possibility of using IMD, FIM (Film Insert-Moulding), IML (In-Mould Labelling), In Mold Heat Transfer. 100% in-mould technology from conceptual design to end product, maintaining total process control.

  • Material study: Mainly considering recycled polyamide-nylon reinforced with glass fiber. It seems complicated to make it fire-resistant (V0 standard) and not suitable for IMD.

  • Resistance to salt, sand, and sun exposure.

Electronics

  • Power consumption: Sensors on X, Y, Z axes, acceleration sensor, alarm, lock.

  • Effectiveness/optimization of charging via solar cell.

  • Sensor to cut power to electronics at high temperatures.

  • Protection of circuits and connectors from salt and sand.

Batteries

  • Risks at high temperatures if the safe is left in the sun for too long. Initially considered lithium batteries; need to study the possibility of using other types of batteries.

Steel Cable for Securing

  • Must be very robust in case of cutting attempts, yet flexible to adapt to the oval shape of the safe.

  • Manual locking/unlocking system must resist salt and not jam if sand enters the gears.

  • Study on making the cable locking/unlocking system electric with low energy consumption.

DETAILED CRITICAL ISSUES

MATERIALS

  • Mechanical resistance and safety: Recycled polyamide-nylon is eco-friendly and lightweight but may not offer sufficient resistance against physical attacks (e.g., hammers, saws, drills). May be perceived as less robust than traditional materials like steel or aluminum.

  • Durability: Quality of recycled nylon may vary, affecting resistance to heat, humidity, or UV rays. Continuous mechanical stress (opening/closing, transport) could cause premature wear.

  • Customer perception: "Recycled" may appeal to sustainability-minded customers but could be associated with lower perceived quality.

  • Aesthetic and tactile impact: Polyamide-nylon looks less premium than metals or high-density plastics.

  • IMD technology: Possible and a good idea. Add anti-slip texture (matte or rough surface) for better grip. Thematic decorations and custom designs for specific markets (e.g., "Urban" for cities, "Adventure" for travelers). Use conductive films for touch functions or integrating electronics (e.g., touch controls, RFID antennas).

  • Environmental sustainability narrative: Each safe saves XXX kg of CO2 and uses YYY grams of recycled plastic. Need to use glass or carbon fibers made fire-resistant with eco-friendly flame retardants. Product certification for mechanical resistance (e.g., ISO/ASTM).

FIXING SYSTEM

  • Steel cable resistance: Potential vulnerability—could be cut with advanced cutters. Environmental issues: cable may rust or lose strength in extreme weather. Weak anchor points compromise system effectiveness. Not always possible to find a suitable anchor point. Visible cable may be perceived as less "high-tech."

BATTERY/ELECTRONICS

  • Duration and capacity: Intensive use (sensors, alarm, GPS) can drain battery quickly. Solar charging may be insufficient indoors or in low light. Solar panels tend to charge slowly. Wireless charging may be inefficient and require specific hardware. Lithium-ion batteries degrade with frequent use. Extreme temperatures reduce battery performance.

SENSORS/ALARMS

  • False positives/negatives: Movement sensors may trigger false alarms during accidental transport or light vibrations, or may not detect slow/sophisticated tampering. Sensitivity adjustment may be complicated for non-expert users. 110 dB alarm may be inadequate in noisy environments or easily masked; alarm components may wear out or be damaged.

GPS SYSTEM

  • Accuracy in complex environments: In dense urban areas or indoors, GPS may not work properly due to lack of sky visibility. Imprecise location may hinder recovery. GPS is energy-intensive. Location data may be vulnerable to interception or hacking if not properly secured.

CONTROL SYSTEMS (APP, RFID, KEYPAD)

  • Smartphone/APP: Must be available for major operating systems and updated to avoid compatibility issues. Bluetooth connection may be unstable in crowded or long-distance environments. App may be vulnerable to hacking or malware.

  • RFID: Tags can be easily cloned without proper encryption. Users may lose RFID tags, compromising access.

  • Keypad: Physical buttons may degrade with frequent use or harsh conditions (sand, humidity). Users may choose weak or easily guessed codes.
