CEA-Leti (Laboratoire d'électronique et de technologie de l'information) was founded in 1967 as a gouvernemental research organization. Its primary mission is to create innovation and transfer it to industry in the field of micro and nanotechnologies and its applications (advanced microelectronics technology, sensors and micro systems, power components, photonics and optics technology, communication and information processing technology, imaging and medical device technology, etc.)
CEA-Leti positions itself as a link between basic academic research and mass production and as such, it develops ambitious R&D programs ahead of industry needs in order to prepare future technology to access the markets and mature these technology up to a point where they are ready to be transferred to industry for further development and industrialization.
Encompassing 2000 researchers, engineers and technicians, CEA-Leti activities are developed in an outstanding research environment, boasting 11,000m² cleanrooms space (mainly 300mm) operated 24 hours a day, 6 days a week, with more than 700 state-of-the art microelectronics equipment. Its R&D infrastructure is using equipment and methods as close as possible to industry standards so as to minimize the gap between R&D and industry environment to lower the barrier from R&D to product commercialization.
CEA-Leti contributes to the economic development of France and Europe by developing and transferring knowledge, skills and key technologies to industry.
