The Materials Center Leoben (MCL) has developed the software ALPmat, a materials acceleration platform aiming at radically new possibilities for optimizing and discovering high-performance materials. This is achieved by integrating physical modeling and machine learning (ML) in a hybrid modeling approach, where process-structure-property relationships are optimized using Bayesian Optimisation (aka Active Learning Loop).
The platform has been tested succesfully for discovery of new bainitic steels. We are seeking both new applications (ie material systems to be searched for a specific target quantity) and research collaborations (ie extending the platform to new material classes). A specific focus is on replacing currently used materials with functionally equivalent materials which are free of critical raw materials.
