City of Antwerp looking to join as pilot city

As one of Belgium's largest cities, Antwerp is actively investing in integrated and area-based approaches that connect urban development, social inclusion, housing, health, climate resilience, public space, community development and neighbourhood transformation. Through a wide range of initiatives and European projects, Antwerp is seeking opportunities to test, co-create and scale innovative solutions aligned with New European Bauhaus values.

What Antwerp can bring to a consortium

The City of Antwerp can contribute:

• diverse urban neighbourhoods that can serve as real-life testing, demonstration and replication environments;

• experience with integrated area-based and neighbourhood-centred approaches addressing complex urban challenges through cooperation across policy domains and local stakeholders;

• expertise in urban regeneration, social inclusion, citizen engagement, housing, well-being, climate adaptation and public space development;

• strong partnerships between local authorities, knowledge institutions, civil society organisations, housing actors, healthcare providers and private stakeholders;

• experience with co-creation, participatory governance and community-led neighbourhood transformation;

• access to local stakeholders, practitioners and end-users for piloting, testing, validation and evaluation;

• experience in European cooperation and the implementation of innovative urban projects.

Looking for partners

Antwerp is particularly interested in contributing as a pilot and demonstration city, providing real-life environments for co-creation, implementation, testing, validation and replication of innovative NEB solutions. We are interested in projects addressing topics such as neighbourhood transformation, social inclusion, affordable housing, health and well-being, climate resilience, circularity, citizen participation, public space, local democracy and community-led innovation.
