About

We offer two complementary demonstration sites that explore how existing urban structures can accommodate new housing, biodiversity, community functions and green infrastructure without consuming additional land.

Demonstration Site 1: ADP Industrial Halls – Vertical Transformation of Industrial Heritage

A former harbour and industrial area where existing halls can serve as a testbed for adaptive reuse, vertical extensions, rooftop communities, urban farming, biodiversity-enhancing roofscapes and innovative housing concepts.

The site offers opportunities to explore how underutilised industrial structures can become productive, liveable and attractive urban assets.

Demonstration Site 2: Falstersvejkvarteret – Vertical Densification in Existing Urban Fabric

An urban neighbourhood with potential to investigate sustainable densification through rooftop development, vertical additions, green roofs, community spaces and multifunctional building structures.

The site provides opportunities to test how cities can accommodate growth while improving quality of life, biodiversity and climate resilience.

Together, the two sites allow the development and comparison of scalable solutions for both industrial transformation and urban densification.

Middelfart Municipality brings expertise in urban regeneration, citizen engagement, placemaking, circular construction and cross-sector collaboration and is seeking partners from research, architecture, engineering, innovation and public authorities.

We can contribute as a demonstration city, living lab and implementation partner for testing and validating innovative vertical space solutions.
