Real-time urban climate simulation for climate-neutral, walkable, energy-positive districts
CEO & Co-Founder at infrared.city
Vienna, Austria
About
infrared.city (Vienna, spun out of AIT's City Intelligence Lab) builds the first AI-powered real-time climate simulation platform for urban design. We turn analyses that traditionally take days of simulation setup and compute into results delivered in seconds, at 90%+ accuracy, accessible to every stakeholder of the built environment, not just specialists.
What we bring to a DUT consortium:
-
11 validated simulation types: wind speed and pedestrian comfort, thermal comfort, heat and cold stress, solar radiation, daylight, sky view factor, microclimate and more
-
Results at street, district and city scale, integrated with Rhino/Grasshopper, Revit, SketchUp, ArchiCAD and GIS, plus an OGC-compliant REST API and Python SDK for partners who want to embed climate intelligence in their own tools
-
Compliance-grade automated reporting for planning submissions (e.g. NEN 8100 wind comfort, urban heat plans)
How we fit the DUT pathways:
-
15-minute City: quantify whether streets are genuinely walkable in summer heat and winter wind, optimise shading, greening and active-mobility routes against real comfort metrics
-
Positive Energy Districts: rapid solar radiation, daylight and microclimate analysis to support renewable generation, energy efficiency and net-zero district design
-
Circular Urban Economies: data-driven design iteration and liveability metrics to balance resource efficiency with healthy, comfortable public space
What we are looking for: research institutes, cities and municipalities, and technology/industry partners building a 3-year DUT R&I proposal. Infrared can act as the climate-simulation and digital-twin enabler across any pathway. We are open to all roles, from consortium co-applicant to technology provider for partners' pilot sites.
