About
The Department Intelligent Transport Systems at the Johannes Kepler Universität Linz, in Austria-(JKU-ITS) has an in-depth knowledge and practical experience in the core areas of intelligent technologies in vehicular environments (ICT, data analysis and smart mobility) and mobile sensors that support automated, cooperative and connected transport. The department is involved in thematic networks around transportation with many years of experience in the academic training and in the research of transport-relevant topics. It aims at providing transport solutions for a low environmental impact using sensor and communication technologies for data exchange between vehicles, infrastructure, and people. Particularly the focus lies on Human Factors and Interaction with Intelligent Vehicles, Automated Connected Transportation, Machine Learning Solutions for Automated Driving Behaviour, Simulation Platforms, Travel Behaviour and Driving Performance and Digital and Sustainable Transportation. The JKU-ITS department disposes of a research vehicle with sensors (lidars, cameras, IMU and GPS) relying on ROS and OPENPILOT. In addition to this, JKU-ITS has an Intelligent Transportation Systems laboratory with a mobile robot equipped with a variety of sensors to acquire data and simulation platforms for studies on impact of new technologies and automated and connected applications, as well as traffic conditions and management, fuel and energy consumption and research on the functioning of vehicles.
