About

The role of cities and their impact on our lives has never been more important. With more than half the world's population now living in cities, our research seeks to improve the quality of human life in urban areas across the world and enable current and future cities to be understood in new ways.

Our vision is to improve the quality of life of citizens by making cities healthier, more sustainable and more resilient. We do this by conducting leading research and driving innovation, working with commercial organisations, local and national governments, to help:

  • reduce economic inequalities in cities

  • produce sustainable and resilient urban systems

  • improve wellbeing and health of citizens

  • encourage citizen participation
