About me
I am an Assistant Professor and Researcher at the University of Lisbon, Instituto Superior de Agronomia, where I coordinate the Plant Pathology Laboratory “Veríssimo de Almeida”. My work bridges science and practice in urban forestry, arboriculture, and plant pathology, with a strong focus on tree health, fungal pathogens, and sustainable green infrastructure. I collaborate with municipalities and public entities to develop resilient urban ecosystems through evidence-based tree management, biodiversity enhancement, and disease prevention strategies. I actively contribute to national guidelines and certification frameworks, including the PEFC panel for Trees Outside Forests (TOF), promoting circularity and sustainability in urban greening. My expertise supports innovative public procurement approaches that integrate ecological value, long-term resilience, and circular principles into urban planning. With over 40 peer-reviewed publications and experience in interdisciplinary projects, I am keen to partner on initiatives that advance nature-based solutions, inclusive green spaces, and circular urban economies.
