About me
Kevin Ka-Lun Lau is a Senior Lecturer in Urban Planning at Luleå University of Technology whose research sits at the climate–health–mobility interface. He studies how urban microclimate and the built environment shape everyday mobility and health, with a current focus on children’s active and independent mobility and participatory planning with municipalities. Kevin leads the Formas SICTA-NGUM project to scale AIM solutions and is work-package lead/partner in Vinnova SICTA Framåt 2.0 and Skolhållplatsen. Methodologically, his group combines microclimate modelling and sensing, GIS/spatial analytics, behavioural design, and digital-twin tools for participation. He collaborates closely with local governments to translate evidence into pilots and policy. Infrastructure includes LTU’s Architecture Lab and Urban Climate Lab. He supervises PhD/Master’s projects and serves as Associate Editor of Cities & Health; recognition includes Stanford’s 2023 research-impact list (Building & Construction).
