The Municipality is experienced in Horizon Europe, IPA and other international /national cooperation programs, with a strong focus on co-creation, citizen engagement, and evidence-based policy-making. Specifically, our 2 projects get support from DUT 2024 call. One is "SCOT-DT – Building Sustainable Future Coastal Tourism: Digital Twins for Resilient and Culturally Sensitive Blue Tourism",/Europe DUT 2024 call. The SCOT-DT project aims to shape the future of blue and cultural tourism by using digital twin technologies. Our goal is; to implement a sustainable, climate-resilient and locally sensitive tourism model in Europe's coastal regions. In the project, a participatory decision support system will be developed in Mudanya, İznik and Cumalıkızık (UNESCO World Heritage Sites), which were selected as pilot application areas from Bursa, working with local communities and supported by technological data. In this way, tourism policies will be reshaped based on both environmental and cultural sustainability. Secondly, "AquaSavvy – Bringing Water Sensitive Urban Design into Digital Twins of Cities" project has been entitled to be supported. Our project aims to make water systems, which are often ignored in cities, visible and to support sustainable water management through participatory planning approaches. The web-based digital twin tool to be developed will work with artificial intelligence modules and community-contributed data platforms.

About me

Hello, I am Salih. I am an M.Sc. Environemntal Engineer and R&D and Innovation Branch Director of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality. I am an Environmental Engineer, I have a bachelor's degree and a master's degree on environmental investments of metropolitan municipalities. I also have a bachelor's degree in Public Administration. I have a professional certificate in occupational safety. While completing my undergraduate education, I worked on biogas, which is one of the renewable energies. During my working life, I worked in the licence works that will decide the start of the operation of many industrial plants and mining facilities. I also carried out the project of preparing the management plan of mixed urban solid waste, which is one of the duties of Metropolitan Municipalities. Afterwards, I planned a 12 MW plant for our city that provides the separation and conversion of mixed municipal solid waste into energy, carried out the tender processes and worked as a control engineer in its construction. I aim to take part in projects in areas such as green energy, climate change and adaptation processes, environmental management and pollution removal, circular economy, zero waste, green transport, which are my main areas of study. I prepared a construction and demolition waste management plan for our city. I managed the process of our city's membership to the WHO European Healthy Cities network, in this process, I managed the project in the preparation of the city health profile. I am currently working in the Smart Urbanisation and Innovation Department of our municipality to develop new projects in line with the concept of smart, resilient and sustainable cities in line with the needs of our city.
