About me

C. Sanem Ersine Masatlıoğlu is an architect and academic specialising in architectural education and urban studies. She earned her bachelor's degree from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in 2010, followed by hands-on experience at construction sites in Istanbul and Jerusalem (2010–2011). She completed her master's degree in Architectural Design at Istanbul Technical University (ITU) in 2012 and obtained her Ph.D. from the same program in 2018, with a dissertation focusing on architectural studio culture.

During her doctoral studies, she conducted research at the Environmental Systems Laboratory of the Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II in Italy. Masatlıoğlu has taught design studios and a wide range of architectural courses at several universities in both full-time and part-time roles. In 2018, she joined Istanbul Şehir University as an Assistant Professor and founding faculty member of the Department of Architecture. Since 2021, she has been teaching at Gebze Technical University.

Her research interests include architectural pedagogy, 20th-century architectural theory, industrial heritage, public space design, and urban morphology.
