About me
Alexis Jacoby is Associate Professor in Strategic Design at the Department of Product Development, Faculty of Design Sciences, University of Antwerp. With a background in mechanical design and years of experience in the design industry, he teaches design methodology in the bachelor’s program and coordinates the strategic design cluster in the master’s program, focusing on value-driven design, systemic design, and scenario planning. His research centers on the role of design in addressing complex societal challenges such as the transition to a circular economy and social innovation. As founder of the Antwerp Strategic and Systemic Design Lab, he leads research into participatory and systems-oriented design approaches that embrace complexity, engage stakeholders, and explore futures thinking. His work includes developing methods, frameworks, and toolkits to support systemic change, and he has contributed to several multidisciplinary research projects and international publications advancing the methodology of systemic design.
