Project proposal for PED 2 Ensuring positive socio-economic impact
About
In the province of Antwerp, we wish to share excess solar energy with social housing, working together with an energy cooperative. The energy cooperative will also study options for (preparation of) electrification of the heating system in the buildings, where possible.
Our province currently has more solar energy than it uses, and wishes to share it with the right group of people, instead of selling it on the market. To do this, we wish to work together with energy cooperative ZuidtrAnt, who already has experience in energy communities and access to the right kind of data and platforms to be able to share energy and make estimates when energy can be shared and sold. In addition, they would like to study options to electrify the heating of collective systems, currently still fossil fuel based. Not every apartment building or social housing will be able to access district heating, but will still need a sustainable source. By looking into ways to make use of the provinces excess energy and eventually storing it for heat use, this case can be studied and hopefully replicated elsewhere.
We are looking for partners who wish to study the same kind of innovation.
