POWER IN PLACE- Driving a Just Transition

Naomi van Stapele

Senior Researcher Climate Justice as Social Responsiility at Movisie

The Hague, Netherlands

About

POWER IN PLACE puts social and subsidised housing at the centre of PED innovation. We are building a transdisciplinary and cross-European consortium to co-create community-led PED pilots in at least three urban contexts. These pilots will address:

✅ Energy poverty & affordability

✅ Community ownership of energy systems

✅ Spatial & infrastructural inequality

✅ Trust in public–private energy governance

Our approach combines applied social science, energy systems research, and co-design, with tools like participatory mapping, energy diaries, and design labs embedded in housing communities. The goal: to develop scalable PED models that decarbonise cities while empowering residents and strengthening social cohesion.
