Transit stop design for autonomous on-demand shuttles
About
In our project idea, we aim for designing stops for automated on-demand shuttles. These shuttles offer demand-oriented mobility in regions where conventional bus routes are uneconomical and make it easier for people in cities to switch from cars to public transportation. We focus on the one hand on the user-friendly design of the stops that corresponds to the variable destinations of the shuttles and provides important information for passengers. Since the stops are located in public spaces, their design should shape the cityscape. On the other hand, technical requirements such as the integration of the necessary sensor technology for the automated vehicles are taken into account in order to combine aesthetic and functional aspects.
We are looking for partners outside of Germany who work on similar topics or do have pilot sites in which we can test our approach.
