About
Crayonic Badge is a medical-grade wearable identity wallet designed for secure, fast, and frictionless authentication in clinical environments. It replaces shared smart cards, passwords, and consumer smartphones with a dedicated hospital-ready device worn on a lanyard or badge clip. The Badge provides phishing-resistant multi-factor authentication using FIDO2 passkeys, X.509 certificates, PIN, and fingerprint biometrics. With presence-based login, clinicians can automatically unlock and re-lock workstations as they arrive or leave, reducing walk-away risk and eliminating repeated logins on shared terminals. This enables rapid access to EHRs, prescribing systems, and clinical applications without compromising security or auditability. A secure e-ink touchscreen allows on-device PIN entry, identity confirmation, and protected notifications. Unlike smartphones, the Badge runs a controlled firmware stack with no app store, no social apps, and no mixing of personal and clinical data, making it suitable for sterile and regulated environments. Its housing is made from medical-grade plastic, optimized for daily disinfection and long battery life. Crayonic Badge integrates Bluetooth, NFC, and USB-C, supporting workstation login, physical access control, secure printing, and digital signatures. It can store multiple credentials for different roles and systems, centrally managed by hospital IT while cryptographic keys remain protected inside the device’s secure element. Lost or stolen devices can be instantly revoked without disrupting the user’s digital identity. Beyond authentication, the Badge supports secure notifications, panic/Code Blue alerts, and audio notes for AI transcription, reducing reliance on consumer messengers and personal phones. Optional sensors enable RTLS location for workflow optimization and emergency response. Aligned with eIDAS2 and European Digital Identity Wallet principles, Crayonic Badge brings sovereign, hardware-based identity directly into hospital workflows—improving cybersecurity, shortening login times, and letting clinicians focus on patients instead of passwords.
