WHO WE ARE
Kraftmitte GmbH is a Swiss company working at the intersection of pharmaceutical medicine and software. We combine two decades of senior Medical Affairs experience in haemato-oncology with the development of software for the pharmaceutical industry.
The company is led by Alexander Maurer, MD MBA, a physician trained in haematology and oncology at Frankfurt University Hospital, with an MBA from the Judge Business School in Cambridge. Before founding Kraftmitte he held European and global Medical Affairs leadership roles at major pharmaceutical companies, most recently as Executive Director and Cell Therapy Franchise Lead in Worldwide Haematology Medical.
We are based near Bern, Switzerland, and work across Europe.
WHAT WE DO
Our work has two strands.
The first is Medical Affairs consultancy. We advise pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies on medical strategy in haematology and oncology: disease area strategy, evidence generation, launch readiness, engagement with clinical cooperative groups and key opinion leaders, and publication planning. We have supported product launches across European markets and lifecycle management in haematological malignancies and solid tumours, and we design and run medical and patient education programmes.
The second is software. Refentra is our product for pharmaceutical content operations, and it grew directly out of the first strand.
REFENTRA
In pharmaceutical communication, nobody is slow because they cannot write. They are slow because every statement has to be proven.
Each claim in a slide deck, a brochure or a training module must be traced back to a published source. Each figure — a median, a hazard ratio, an adverse-event rate — must be checked against the value printed in that source. Each citation must be numbered correctly. This work is done by hand, it is invisible in any project budget, and it is where weeks disappear in medical and regulatory review.
Refentra automates the mechanical part of it. The software reads the finished document, identifies every claim, locates the supporting passage in the source publication, and compares each figure against the published value. What comes back is an audit-ready reference pack: a reviewer clicks any claim and lands on the sentence that supports it, and any number that does not match its source is flagged with the source line and page.
The numerical verification is deterministic. It compares values rather than interpreting them, which matters in a field where a plausible-sounding summary is not an acceptable substitute for a correct hazard ratio. The medical and regulatory judgement stays with the people accountable for it; we remove the searching, not the reviewing.
The product is developed together with co-founder Dimitri Papoutsis, a software engineer with more than twenty years of experience, including fourteen years on mission-critical systems at Germany's air traffic control authority, and a certification in data science and machine learning engineering.
WHO WE SERVE
Medical communications agencies, where referencing and review consume a large share of internal project hours. Biotechnology and mid-size pharmaceutical launch teams, where Marketing and Medical Affairs work from the same evidence base under different compliance rules. The constraint is the same in both cases: too much evidence work, too few people, and a review process that cannot absorb errors.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are attending the Digital Technologies Business Days to find technology partners rather than customers. Our market is the pharmaceutical industry; what we need from Piemonte's ICT ecosystem is the capability to serve that market better and faster.
Three areas in particular.
Engineering capacity. Our roadmap is ahead of our development resources. We are open to partnership or contract engagement, ideally with teams that have worked in regulated environments and understand why traceability matters more than speed of delivery.
Security. As we move into enterprise procurement with pharmaceutical customers, we need penetration testing, security assessment, and advice on the certification path that this market expects.
User experience and interface design. Designing software used under compliance constraints is its own discipline. We would value partners who have done it in regulated industries.
We are also open to conversations about data engineering, document processing and retrieval, and evaluation methodology for language model output, all of which sit close to our roadmap.
