Karen McCormick

Karen McCormick is the founder of inCharge, a personalised care app designed to empower people with disabilities and their support teams. Driven by personal experience as a mother of a daughter with intellectual disabilities, Karen has firsthand insight into the complexities of managing self-directed care arrangements or indeed any shared family care. Her journey as a carer inspired her to develop a technology that simplifies care coordination, enhances communication, and puts the person with care and support needs at the centre of the process.

Since founding inCharge in 2020, Karen has developed a reputation as an emerging thought leader in personalised care technology. With over four years of experience building international networks, she is recognised for her expertise in self-directed care models and advocating for accessible, person-centered solutions. Karen’s philosophy emphasizes interdependence, highlighting the importance of relationships in enabling people with disabilities to live fulfilling lives.

Karen is involved in various projects and collaborations such as working as an associate on the &Thrive project with Care City and In Control Partnerships, funded by The Health Foundation. She is supported by mentors across the technology and self-directed care landscape. She is a member of TSA Voice and along with her work as a co-production lead on IMPACT, she has built strong stakeholder relationships through her co-production approach which reflect the complex environment of social care.
