Value for Health CoLAB

Founded in 2019 by a group of private and public entities, including Vodafone, Fraunhofer and NOVA University of Lisbon, Value for Health CoLAB (VOH.CoLAB) is a Portuguese non-profit Collaborative Laboratory dedicated to transforming healthcare through innovative, value-based solutions.

With a multidisciplinary team of 26+ researchers spanning engineering, data science, biomedical sciences, organizational behavior, economics and UX/UI, VOH combines co-creation with technical and clinical methods to ensure that healthcare solutions are usable, acceptable and impactful in real-world care settings.

Our work is structured around three complementary pillars — Human and Organizational Behavior, AI Multimodal Systems for Healthcare, and Digital Transformation — enabling end-to-end innovation from stakeholder engagement and solution design through AI-powered development to real-world pilots and value assessment. Central to VOH.CoLAB's identity is its commitment to co-creation: systematically bringing together patients, healthcare professionals, clinical teams, public institutions and community organisations to ensure that solutions are shaped by those who will use and benefit from them. To date, VOH.CoLAB has contributed to over 17 publicly funded collaborative projects — contributing to securing more than €72M, producing 49 scientific publications with clinical teams, and engaging over 180 healthcare professionals and >400 patients and end-users across national and European initiatives.
