About

Founded in 1991, IDETA (Intercommunal Agency for Territorial Development) is a public-interest organization serving 23 municipalities in the Wallonie Picarde region of Belgium, as well as local businesses and citizens.

IDETA provides tailored real estate solutions for companies and investors, along with personalized support to help launch and scale their projects. As a trusted partner for local municipalities, IDETA assists in spatial planning, urban revitalization, and rural development projects, with the goal of improving residents’ quality of life and enhancing the region’s attractiveness.

With a strategic digital vision, IDETA actively supports the digital transformation of the territory by fostering innovation, digital skills training, and smart infrastructure development. It promotes digital ecosystems in collaboration with regional and European partners, helping position Wallonie Picarde as a forward-looking, digitally empowered region.

IDETA also contributes to the region’s economic resilience by developing sustainable tourism in partnership with the Maison du Tourisme, showcasing local heritage and natural landscapes.

A key pillar of IDETA’s mission is the transition to renewable energy. The agency offers technical and financial expertise to local actors and manages energy-related participations to ensure long-term returns for the municipalities and their inhabitants, while significantly reducing CO₂ emissions.

Beyond economic development, IDETA manages socially impactful infrastructure, including the Les Blancs Arbres crematorium and the Bébé Boulot daycare network located in the region’s business parks, addressing vital community needs.

All of IDETA’s activities align with the Wallonie Picarde 2040 Territorial Project, a regional roadmap developed by the Council for Development of Wallonie Picarde, aimed at building a strong, sustainable, and vibrant future for the territory.
