About me
Anniek Eerdekens is a postdoctoral researcher at WAVES/Imec (Ghent University), where she leads the technical development of the E-IoT Chip, an injectable biotelemetry system for continuous monitoring of physiological parameters and early colic detection in horses. Her expertise spans machine learning, embedded AI, hardware design, and end-to-end IoT system development for animal health and behavior monitoring. She holds a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Ghent University (2024), with a thesis titled Smart Animal Monitoring Using Wearables and Ingestibles. Beyond her academic work, Anniek is currently taking the first steps toward valorization through business plan development and close collaboration with veterinarians, farmers, equestrians and industry partners. As an active rider with a background in show jumping and professional stable environments, she combines academic insight with first-hand understanding of the end user.
