About

The lysin has been validated in vitro against a panel of clinical strains from canine pyoderma and otitis externa patients. It has a good safety profile (no cytotoxicity) for application on canine skin and rapidly kills SP after topical application.

Proof of concept in patients

Five dogs with chronic recurrent pyoderma caused by a multidrug-resistant MRSP were used to assess the safety and effectiveness of our biological in an in vivo proof-of-concept (POC) study. For all patients, a significant improvement of the clinical appearance of the lesions was seen in the first 4 days with a corresponding decrease in CFU. At the end of the therapy, no adverse reactions could be identified, and all lesions had disappeared. After follow-up consultations, no new lesions have appeared in either patients.
