R&D, Water-Landing UAVs, Specialized UAV Equipment, Virtual Reality Training, Environmental Data Acquisition and Collaborative Projects

Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa S.A., as the only producer of coking coal in the European Union, is simultaneously developing specialized technological activities supporting security, critical infrastructure protection, and defense. These competencies were established within the JSW Nowe Projekty team and were directly incorporated into the organizational structures of JSW as a result of the incorporation of JSW Nowe projekty at the beginning of 2026.

The team carries out highly advanced projects in the field of unmanned systems, including the design of UAV platforms, onboard devices, as well as control and integration software. These activities focus on industrial, specialized, and dual-use applications, complementing the core business of the JSW Group with innovative technological solutions of high added value.

Specialized team within JSW focused on designing and building advanced drone platforms for challenging environments. Our current focus is on autonomous drones capable of landing on water and deploying instruments using a precision winch system, enabling operations in aquatic and flooded zones.

These capabilities open new horizons for:

• Environmental and water quality monitoring

• Infrastructure inspection (e.g., dams, levees, ports)

• Search and rescue operations

• Deployment of sensors or equipment in hazardous or inaccessible areas

We also work in the Unity and Unreal environments, providing applications for operating the hardware as well as VR/AR training.

We are actively seeking EU project partners for collaborative research and innovation in the fields of:

• Aerial and maritime robotics

• Sensor integration and data analysis

• Secure communication systems for unmanned operations

• AI-assisted navigation and situational awareness

We are open to joining consortia, co-developing pilot applications, and contributing to cutting-edge security and environmental monitoring solutions in Europe.
