Importing Philosophy
Cru Wine Merchants is a family-owned importer dedicated to organic, sustainable, and low-intervention wines. Our approach is simple: we seek out independent growers who farm with intention and produce wines that are honest reflections of their land.

We are not interested in co-operatives or large-scale production. Instead, we focus on small, thoughtful wineries where decisions are made in the vineyard, not in a lab. These are wines shaped by season, soil, and human care, not by formula.

At Cru, we believe that great wine is grown, not made. The growers we work with share this belief, prioritizing farming practices that respect the environment and preserve the character of their sites. Our role is to bring these wines to Canada without compromising what makes them distinct.

We understand the work, risk, and uncertainty that come with farming because we live it ourselves through Stratus Vineyards. This perspective shapes how we select our producers and how we represent their wines.

Each winery we partner with shares a common philosophy: that wine should express a place, a vintage, and a point of view. These are wines with a sense of origin, wines that carry a clear “somewhereness.”

We choose to work with growers whose wines we believe in, and whose stories we want to tell. People we respect, and people we would gladly sit down with, share a meal, and open a bottle.

Our portfolio is intentionally focused and low production, highlighting authentic wines from around the world. Every bottle represents a relationship, a philosophy, and a commitment to quality over scale.
