Open innovation test bed (OITB): A new kid on the block
Open Innovations Test Beds (OITBs) are one form of Technology Infrastructure designed at European level to enable innovative small and medium size enterprises (SMEs) to test novel (advanced) materials before bringing them to the market. OITBs help reduce costs, investment risks and the time. Since their introduction in 2019 they have had positive impact on technological streams of batteries, packaging, transport, nanomedicine or electronics. This accelerated innovation will create jobs, grow economies, and will make this instrument crucial for the implementation of the Commission communication “Advanced Materials for Industry Leadership" supporting the European Green Deal.
