About

Recycllux offers a data-driven, technology-enabled, and community-powered solution to tackle marine plastic pollution and its environmental and social consequences.

Our platform integrates AI, satellite data, and blockchain to detect, trace, and coordinate marine plastic cleanups. Using proprietary AI models, we analyse Earth Observation imagery to identify floating plastic hotspots in the sea. Once identified, these hotspots are dynamically matched with local cleanup capacity, activating a coordinated local network of fishing vessels, coastal NGOs, and recycling/repurposing partners. By leveraging blockchain technology, we ensure transparent and tamper-proof traceability across the entire process - from the moment the waste is detected all the way to recycling or recovery.

This model ensures full traceability, with every kilogram collected and recycled recorded on the blockchain. Companies that fund the interventions can therefore demonstrate transparent, auditable progress toward their sustainability goals, supporting both regulatory compliance and sustainability reporting with credible, data-backed, evidence.

Unlike costly, centralised legacy cleanup operations, Recycllux operates a capex-light, decentralised model that leverages local partnerships. This allows rapid scalability across regions, while generating new income opportunities for coastal communities and empowering them as key actors in marine restoration.

Recycllux transforms marine plastic cleanup into a measurable, verifiable impact - protecting the seas, empowering people, and driving the circular blue economy forward.

We are an Climate KIC portfolio company. In April 2023, our project results were published on the EC Horizon Results Platform (ID58919).

Since then, our approach has gained significant traction across the Black Sea region. We have already established all needed strategic partnerships along the Romanian Black Sea Coast to effectively deploy our interventions. In September 2024, we won the Black Sea Common Maritime Agenda (CMA) 2024 Project Award for Healthy Marine & Coastal Ecosystems and our success story was published by the Black Sea CMA in October 2024.

In 2025, our action was officially included in the EU Mission Restore Our Ocean and Waters Charter and in the EU4Ocean Platform. We were also recognised as Change100 sustainability startups wordwide, Top 10 innovation companies in Romania, and BE100 company. We have 2 paying customers and we have started to deploy interventions along the Romanian Black Sea Coast.

We are now expanding our model, validated in the Black Sea, to the Mediterranean, by establishing a subsidiary in Malta that will act as our Mediterranean hub (company registration started).
