About
The National Research Council of Italy (CNR) is the country’s largest public research organization, with more than 80 institutes covering all fields of knowledge. Within CNR, the Department of Earth System Science and Environmental Technologies (DSSTTA) plays a leading role in addressing global environmental challenges, focusing on ecosystems, sustainability, biodiversity, climate, and the blue and circular economy.
CNR acts as a strategic science–policy interface at national, European, and international levels, promoting excellence in research, technology transfer, and innovation. Through DSSTTA and its wide network of collaborations, CNR supports the EU Missions, coordinates Mediterranean initiatives, and develops solutions to restore oceans, waters, and ecosystems while fostering sustainable development.
