Interactions with the EU funded project MAGNO
Dr at National Institute of Marine Sciences and Technologies
Tunis, Tunisia
About
MAGNO: (https://magno-project.eu/) aims to analyze and determine the best food packaging manufacturing strategies. It works for identifying and classifying the materials used in food packaging sector that can harm human health and environment to set up the best food packaging system practices available to reduce pollution and increase the sustainability of the sector. MAGNO is creating a Digital Twin of the packaging value chain in Europe that can predict the future effects when modifying the way to design, produce, use and recycle food plastic packages.
Key accomplishments for MAGNO include identifying bio-based, biodegradable polymers, improving Reuse-Refill, and promoting circularity in the development of the circular economy. Since the plastic industry is a significant economic activity in the Mediterranean region and one of the main sectors in accomplishing the aims of the EU Green Deal and Mission "Restore our Ocean and Waters," we believe that MAGNO completely complies with the BlueMissionMED road map objectives connected to plastic pollution.
We propose to interect with BlueMed Mission community to better benefit from MAGNO accomplishments and to mobilize relevant actors in preventing and eliminating plastic pollution, all within the spirit of BuleMedMission built on, connecting and structuring existing initiatives and activities to disseminate and upscale solutions with the specific aim of addressing Objective 2 of the Mission, namely "prevent and eliminate pollution of our ocean, seas, and waters."
