Petra Szávics

Petra Szávics has nearly 20 years of professional experience in regional development. This includes implementing Cohesion Policy programmes and projects, and delivering and/or implementing strategic planning documents at regional, national, and macro-regional levels, as well as in a cross-border context.

Since 2015, she has primarily focused on smart specialisation policies. She contributed to the design of the previous S3 of the North-West development region (Romania) and then worked as an external expert for the European Commission on the 'Targeted support for RIS3 in lagging regions' and 'Catching-up regions' initiatives. She is currently involved in the S3 Community of Practice initiative as an external expert.

She is also a PhD student at Babeș-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca, where she works part-time as an expert and member of external teaching staff. She is affiliated with the Research Centre for Sustainable Development. Her recently finalised PhD thesis focuses on smart specialisation in less developed Romanian regions.
