At the Regional Institute of Oncology in Iasi, we are dedicated to providing comprehensive cancer care and advancing research in oncology. Therefore, since 2016, an interconnected and transdisciplinary research center was established, that is, the TRANSCEND  center. The TRANSCEND is committed at identifying and designing new diagnostic and therapeutic biomarkers with the purpose to go deeply in the tumor developmental biology and create a scale of translation to the clinical applications. Since 2021, IRO-TRANSCEND is benefiting from an H2020-ERA-Chair project, which provided support for establishing a Nanotechnology Laboratory, a Technology Transfer Office, and a new research topic, that is, nanomedicine, which integrates nanoscale materials with cancer research. The main topics in nanomedicine are focused on developing of liposomes, microemulsions, magnetic nanoparticles, layered double hydroxides for drug delivery, contrast agents, theranostic.
