Hlectron

Hlectron is developing medical systems demonstrated to increase the efficacy of chemotherapy. The company is a spinout from the Dept of Physics of The university of Cambridge. It is devising two medical systems: the first generation system is based on a non invasive, safe and affordable protocol aimed as a complementary cancer treatment therapy. Pre clinical trials have demonstrated a 15% increase in survival rates of breast cancer patients - the protocol is based on electromagnetic fields that increase the concentration and lifetime of free radicals. Our second generation protocol is invasive, based on magnetic nanocomplexes comprised of magnetic nanoparticles synthesised together with anticancer drugs. Preclinical tests in mice have demonstrated 40-50% increase in survival rates without administering any chemotherapy to the animals.
