Who we are — Korea University Anam Hospital (Family Medicine) & KIST

Two complementary Korean entities seeking to join a forming EU consortium under HORIZON-MISS-2026-02-CANCER-07 — Improve the Quality of Life of Older Cancer Patients. South Korea is a Horizon Europe Pillar II Associated Country, and both entities are eligible for direct EU funding and named work-package roles on equal terms with EU partners.

Why our contribution is distinctive

  • Muscle-health focus for older cancer patients: sarcopenia, cachexia and frailty as key drivers of toxicity, loss of independence and poor QoL

  • Clinical + technology integration: geriatric oncology care and prehabilitation combined with wearables, biosensors, AI risk prediction and multi-omics

  • Translation-ready contribution: prospective cohort access, longitudinal follow-up, multimodal sensing and real-world data integration

Clinical & care-model strengths

  • Geriatric & frailty assessment: validated CGA, SPPB, grip-strength and gait-speed protocols

  • Sarcopenia & cachexia evaluation: CT/DEXA body-composition analysis, nutritional assessment and clinical biomarker work-up

  • Prehabilitation & rehabilitation: structured exercise, nutritional and psychosocial programmes before and during cancer treatment

  • Primary-care integration: bridging specialist oncology and community-level care to sustain QoL and independence

  • Clinical cohort access: established older-patient population across diverse cancer types; capacity for prospective enrolment and longitudinal follow-up

  • AI-integrated sensing & risk prediction: ML models for frailty progression and QoL-decline prediction using multimodal sensor data

  • EG-FET biomarker platforms: minimally invasive, real-time detection of myokines, cachexia markers and inflammatory signatures

  • Wearables & continuous monitoring: sensor-fusion systems for longitudinal health-status tracking in free-living conditions

  • Myokine & cachexia multi-omics: molecular characterization of muscle–organ crosstalk relevant to sarcopenia, cancer cachexia and treatment toxicity

  • Clinical validation and intervention delivery for older cancer patients

The consortium we hope to join

We are looking for a forming consortium that brings complementary strengths — in particular:

  • Geriatric oncology clinical sites across multiple EU Member States

  • Patient / survivor / caregiver involvement

  • SSH (social sciences, psychology, behavioural and caregiver research)

  • HTA / health economics / implementation science

  • Rehabilitation / prehabilitation

  • EHDS / FAIR data / UNCAN.eu-aligned infrastructure

We would be happy to contribute as funded consortium partners and to take on clearly defined work-package roles within the consortium's structure.
