About

Research Expertise and Collaboration Opportunity

Homs University (Syria), through its Automatic Control and Robotics Laboratory, seeks to join a multidisciplinary research consortium under HORIZON-HLTH-2027-01-STAYHLTH-01: Addressing disabilities through the life course to support independent living and inclusion.

Expertise Offered

Our research focuses on rehabilitation robotics, adaptive and intelligent control, and human–robot interaction. We can contribute expertise in:

  • Development of affordable robotic rehabilitation and assistive technologies, particularly for upper-limb rehabilitation.

  • Adaptive assist-as-needed control and hybrid position–force control strategies.

  • Mathematical modelling, simulation, control algorithm development, and experimental evaluation of robotic rehabilitation systems.

  • Intelligent and personalized robotic assistance aimed at improving functional capabilities and supporting independence.

Proposed Role and Contribution

We aim to participate as a research and technology partner, contributing to technical research activities, robotic system development, control implementation, and laboratory-based experimental validation.

We are particularly interested in developing accessible, person-centred rehabilitation solutions that support functional recovery, autonomy, and independent living, especially in resource-constrained healthcare environments.

Expertise and Partners Sought

We are seeking established or emerging Horizon Europe consortia led by experienced coordinators, with complementary expertise in:

  • Clinical rehabilitation, physiotherapy, and rehabilitation medicine.

  • Clinical assessment and validation of assistive technologies.

  • Disability research, independent living, and community-based healthcare.

  • Patient and end-user engagement, including organizations representing people with disabilities.

  • Social sciences, healthcare service models, and technology implementation.

We welcome collaboration with European universities, research institutes, hospitals, rehabilitation centres, technology companies, and disability organizations.

Our objective is to contribute complementary engineering expertise to multidisciplinary research projects addressing disability, rehabilitation, accessibility, and independent living.

We welcome bilateral meetings with potential consortium coordinators and research partners to explore opportunities for collaboration.
