Silesian Park of Medical Technology Kardio-Med Silesia in Zabrze (KMS) is a modern scientific research centre established in 2015. Its well-equipped infrastructure, meeting highest European standards, allows on conducting innovative scientific-research projects and development of the novel technologies in field of medicine and biotechnology. KMS team forms interdisciplinary group of experts in nanotechnology, biotechnology, cardiac surgery, cardiology, invasive cardiology, diabetology, civilization and environmental disease, public health, health technology assessments, IT, digital health (telemedicine, e-health, m-health), project management. The Park collaborates closely with leading Polish and foreign clinical, research and academic centers, among others: Silesian Center for Heart Diseases in Zabrze (SCCS), Medical University of Silesia in Katowice (SUM), Foundation for Cardiac Surgery Development (FRK), Institute of Medical Technology and Equipment (ITAM), Jagiellonian University – Collegium Medicum (UJ-CM), Medical University of Gdańsk (GUMED), Medical University of Warsaw (MUW), Department of Urology in Freiburg in Germany, University in Saskatchewan in Canada. Kardio-Med Silesia also cooperates strictly with large business partners on certified medical devices (CE) as Balton, Abbott (St. Jude), Medtronic, Biotronik, Boston, Mediquard, Adamed Pharma, Asseco Poland, Comarch Group, Philips, Wasko Group and med-tech startups. The interest of the latter resulted in launching in January 2020 within KMS its new initative – „Silesian Medical Innovation Startup Valley”.
