New doctors often start real practice without enough chances to make clinical decisions on their own. That gap drives diagnostic errors and serious harm, including hundreds of thousands of deaths each year in the United States. Medical students also graduate without placing a single order or making a real decision, then they face their first patient alone on day one. That uncertainty pushes extra tests “just in case,” which raises cost and risk.
I felt this problem early. I saw a myocardial infarction missed because the team had not faced a similar scenario before. That moment pushed me to build Curans.
Curans is an AI powered virtual patient simulator that trains clinical reasoning and communication. You practice the full diagnostic process from the first question to the final plan. You take history, perform a simplified physical exam, order any lab test or radiograph, choose a diagnosis, and review your results. Live voice mode is available, so you can practice real conversations, not just clicking options.
Most simulation programs focus on procedures. Curans focuses on thinking, decision making, and communication at scale. We model the communication process and we support OSCE style training and scoring, with a case creator tool and dashboard analytics for instructors. Universities use the portal to create homework cases, run exams, and track student results in one place.
Curans has 35,000 registered users and two institutional subscriptions since launch. Updated PD_compressed We are raising 300K USD on a SAFE to scale case creation, improve clinical scoring, and roll out mobile.
