About

The Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR) is the largest public research institution in Italy; its duty is to carry out, promote, spread, transfer and improve research activities in the main sectors of knowledge growth and of its applications for the scientific, technological, economic and social development of the country. The Institute of Electronics, Computer and Telecommunication Engineering (IEIIT) of CNR performs research activity in the fields related to the information technology, systems engineering and electronics. There exist strong interactions between IEIIT and other public and private corporations, which leads to the activation of contracts and common projects oriented to a real technologic transfer of research results toward various application fields. Advanced research at IEIIT is based on experience and know-how developed by its staff in more than 20 years of scientific activity carried out in the ICT domain.

At the Information and Systems Engineering group, our main research activities deal with eXplainability and uncertainty quantification of AI systems, trying to merge theoretical scientific approaches, safety engineering best practices (e.g., compliance to V&V pipelines) and human-centered perspectives. We have expertise in applying novel trustworthy AI methods in multidisciplinary domains, including digital health and assistive robotics.
