About

The Bulgarian Joint Cancer Network (BJCN) is an independent, expert-driven, non-governmental organization dedicated to advancing comprehensive, equitable, and evidence-based cancer prevention, care, research, and policy in Bulgaria. BJCN brings together leading clinicians, researchers, public-health experts, policymakers, patient representatives, and innovation stakeholders to address systemic gaps across the entire cancer continuum—from prevention and early detection to treatment, survivorship, and quality of life.

BJCN serves as a national coordination and implementation platform for European and international cancer initiatives, aligning Bulgaria with the EU Cancer Mission, Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan, and related frameworks such as ECHoS, ENCR, OECI, and EHDS. The network actively supports the development of modern cancer governance, including the establishment of the National Cancer Mission Hub, Comprehensive Cancer Infrastructures (CCI), and the strengthening of population-based cancer registries and data ecosystems.

Through policy analysis, stakeholder engagement, capacity building, and scientific collaboration, BJCN promotes data-driven decision-making, digital health innovation, quality standards, and workforce development. It acts as a trusted interface between science, policy, and society, ensuring that national cancer strategies are aligned with European standards while remaining responsive to local needs.

BJCN’s mission is to improve cancer outcomes, reduce inequalities, and support a sustainable, patient-centered oncology system in Bulgaria by translating evidence and innovation into real-world impact.
