About

The vision of our Center for Patient-Centered Outcomes Research (CPCOR) is to enable patient-centered research and clinical care. For this patient-centeredness, accurate capture of health from the patient's perspective is imperative. Therefore, we develop, validate, and implement tools and methods to make this capture as comprehensive and accurate as possible. As part of the Department of Medicine with a focus on psychosomatic medicine, we are committed to a biopsychosocial model of health and illness.

At CPCOR, we conduct research on patient-reported outcomes (PROs) and patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs). Psychometric methods research is a core competency of our center, and we set standards in the field through relevant and internationally visible research projects in this research area. Research foci of the CPCOR include the standardization of PROMs on cross-instrument scales (common metrics) and the modeling of measurement error in analyses of PROMs.

In addition, we bundle Charité-internal, national and international projects in the CPCOR, which have the goal of integrating PROMs into clinical routine. This implementation of PROs in clinical care is a future topic that we help to shape and in which we contribute our expertise. Our goal is to ensure that the selection, use, and interpretation of PROMs in clinical care is done in such a way that implementation actually benefits patients and practitioners.

As CPCOR, we want to share our knowledge with interested parties inside and outside Charité. In doing so, we want to ensure that research with and about PROs can meet high qualitative standards. We achieve this by designing workshops/webinars, by designing information resources (websites, educational articles), and by providing personal advice on planning research proposals and publications.

In addition to these central tasks, we are also involved as a cooperation partner in various clinical studies.
