About

The Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome (UCBM) was founded in 1992 as a non-profit institution dedicated to university education and research in the biomedical field. UCBM is organised into three departmental faculties (Medicine and Surgery, Engineering, Science and Technology for Sustainable Development, and One Health) and an Integrated Research Centre (CIR), an inter-faculty structure dedicated to promoting research, scientific collaboration, and third mission activities. UCBM has over 70 active projects with national and international institutions and promotes integrated research and healthcare facilities, pursuing the ultimate goal of human well-being.
The synergy between the various UR is facilitated by two aspects: the first is “geographical”, as the laboratories are concentrated in a single dedicated facility (the Advanced Research Centre), and the second is organisational, relating to the presence of the CIR, which offers technical, administrative and procedural services to the UR. In addition, the CIR is equipped with a set of advanced instruments and equipment available to all researchers (core facilities).
Among the priority research areas for UCBM are: i) health services based on the digitisation of healthcare processes (Health 4.0) and ii) new tools and technologies for patient management. There are currently four PhD programmes, including those in Bioengineering and Artificial Intelligence (health and life sciences).
