About

Since its origins in 1175, the University has been a hub of scientific, cultural, and social life. Despite its mixed fortunes, linked to local political changes over the centuries, the University has gradually expanded to become a multidisciplinary, active, and dynamic institution.

With approximately 30,000 students enrolled in first, second and third level degree courses and over 1,400 employees including teaching, research and technical-administrative staff, UNIMORE is one of the large universities, is organized into a network of locations (Modena and Reggio Emilia) and is made up of 13 Departments and 2 Faculties/Schools alongside the cities of Mantua and Carpi (accredited locations of degree courses), as well as interdepartmental centers located throughout the two provinces of Modena and Reggio Emilia, where teaching, research, third mission activities and related support and technology transfer services are carried out.To build a University ready to meet the challenges posed by the 2030 Agenda, University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (UNIMORE, non-profit, public body) pursues its missions of education, research, and third mission by identifying its objectives within a Strategic Plan that views UNIMORE as a place of opportunity and an example of a community open to knowledge and the development of individuals and the community.

Through its Educational Mission, UNIMORE acts both as a place of individual maturation and growth and as a center for the production of theoretical and practical knowledge, offering content that intersects with the main trajectories of innovation and responds to the widespread demand for highly qualified professionals.

In terms of Research, the University supports the activity and attractiveness of its departments and centers, as well as the quality and adequacy of the number of researchers committed to supporting and strengthening the cultural and scientific vitality of the University's various thematic and disciplinary areas.

As part of its Third Mission, UNIMORE promotes the dissemination and valorization of scientific research results, fosters technology transfer from a systemic perspective and through innovative and participatory methods, involving citizens and civil society, institutional bodies, businesses, and social and third sector organizations.
