Thomas More University of Applied Sciences

Thomas More University of Applied Sciences (TM), established in 2012, is the largest university of applied sciences in Flanders, Belgium, with a community of 22,000 students and 2,200 staff. Engaging in practice-oriented scientific research, TM stimulates innovation in companies, organisations, and society at large. In 9 centres of expertise, more than 250 researchers apply their expertise, practical knowledge, and experience to develop scientifically based innovative products and services.

The Centre of Expertise Care and Well-being focuses on innovation and technology in health and welfare based on practical scientific research. In this way, we increase the social and economic impact of healthcare solutions.

 The center of expertise consists of three research groups:

• People and Well-being studies issues of (psycho)diagnostics and prevention and intervention in psychological, welfare and care context.

• Mobilab & Care delves into healthcare solutions. Enabling everyone to participate fully in society is our goal.

• LiCalab is a living lab that supports companies and organizations in the care and welfare sector and co-create, evaluate and test innovative solutions in their own living and working environment.

All three research groups have a proven track record in EU funded projects (EU4Health, Interreg, Horizon, COST, Erasmus+, ...), both as a partner and coordinator. They are also involved in EU-wide networks such as Association for the Advancement of Assistive Technology in Europe, ENoLL (the European Network of Living Labs), EITH Health User Validation Labs, HEROES European University Alliance, and other...
