About

The primary scientific research activities carried out at the ISASI-Na laboratories are inherently interdisciplinary. They are focused on micro/nanophotonic and optoelectronic technologies and devices for high-impact applications across various sectors, including biomedicine, telecommunications, aerospace, energy, and environmental monitoring. Furthermore, the unit specializes in the synthesis, functionalization, and characterization of nanostructured materials and surfaces. The unit operates a dedicated cleanroom facility with Class 1000 and Class 100 areas, utilized for synthesis and nanofabrication procedures, alongside several laboratories dedicated to the optoelectronic characterization of materials and devices.

While historically rooted in the local community through collaborations with local universities and the dissemination of scientific culture in schools, the Unit maintains a distinctly international profile. This is achieved through active partnerships with prestigious foreign research institutions such as LETI, DIMES, UCLA, Boston University, and the Lawrence National Berkeley Labs. The applied nature of its research strongly promotes technology transfer and fosters synergy with major national corporations (Alenia Aeronautica, STMicroelectronics, Selex SI) and innovative SMEs (Materias, Tresol, TME).
