About

The Institute of Biotechnology of the Czech Academy of Sciences (IBT) is a research institute advancing the understanding of biomolecular mechanisms with direct relevance to biomedicine and innovative biotechnologies. IBT brings together twelve complementary research labs covering scales from molecules to organisms, supported by state-of-the-art core facilities and the cutting-edge infrastructure of the BIOCEV centre.

Our environment combines scientific excellence, modern governance, and strong commitment to open science, reproducibility, and responsible research culture. We maintain high-quality research output, competitive national and international grant success, and an active technology transfer office supporting valorisation and industry collaboration.

IBT is actively expanding its international partnerships and talent base, strengthening HR management (HRS4R, HR Award), research data management, and institutional resilience. With growing capacity and clear strategic priorities, IBT is an agile, collaborative partner for European consortia seeking strong molecular bioscience expertise, robust infrastructure, and a reliable widening-country institution committed to excellence.
