The Foundation University Institute for Primary Health Care Research Jordi Gol i Gurina (IDIAPJGol) is the leading centre for primary care research, innovation and health services evaluation in Catalonia. Created by the Catalan Institute of Health (ICS), the main healthcare provider in the region, IDIAPJGol supports and coordinates research across more than 300 primary care centres, through 8 territorial units and over 30 accredited research groups.
IDIAPJGol manages SIDIAP, one of Europe’s largest primary care real-world data (RWD) resources, covering more than 6 million patients. This enables high-impact research in public health, chronic disease, health equity, digital health, AI, epidemiology, pharmacoepidemiology and health services evaluation.
The institute has extensive experience in European collaborative projects, acting both as coordinator and partner in Horizon Europe, IHI/IMI, EU4Health, Joint Actions, CERV and Erasmus+. Current coordinated projects include L-Health, IMAGINE and HAPPY PATIENT. IDIAPJGol also participates in major EU consortia such as PAIR, RAPHAEL, PALLIAKID, PREVENT, FLASH, PCR-4-ALL, DataTools4Heart, END-VOC, CAREPATH, COMFORT, and several THCS 2024 projects.
IDIAPJGol is part of SCReN, the Spanish Clinical Research Network and the national node of ECRIN, providing high-quality support for clinical trials and research involving medical devices and digital health technologies. It also hosts a Real World Lab (RWL) enabling real-environment testing of innovations (AI tools, apps, devices).
The institute coordinates the national research network RICAPPS on chronicity, primary care and health promotion, and is part of TriNetX, facilitating international feasibility studies and research collaborations.
